One of the things I LOVE about Senior Photography is the incredible variety in each session! And in Class of 2015 Senior Model, Maggie’s session, we had an AMAZING amount of variety! From some fantastic locations in Sioux Falls to spending time on her family’s beautiful farm, Maggie’s session was as much fun as Maggie!
I met Maggie last year when her beautiful sister, Abbie, was one of my senior models. There is absolutely nothing more flattering, more humbling to me, when a senior, when a family, trusts me again to create something amazing for them. I know some seniors who refuse to work with the same photographer who took their siblings portraits to ensure that their portraits look completely different than previous pictures. I love that Maggie, and her family, trusted that we would create something that was unique to Maggie.
Maggie has a phenomenal presence in her look and we really pushed that in her model session. Maggie is a bit like me – a tomboy – shying away from makeup. More at home in jeans and hat. For her model session we really gave her the model treatment and the images we created are some of my favorite marketing images from the Class of 2015. Her ginger hair is amazing with her coloring and if you’ve been to the mall and seen her in the green dress you might catch a glimpse of a Scottish Princess.
As I said we had incredible variety in Maggie’s Senior Portrait session. She had an amazing bohemian outfit and I just knew the perfect location. She had an amazing blue dress with these stunning red heels and we took a detour and used a new location that was simply stunning and entirely unique! And yes…those are stacks of recycled cans she’s standing on! Maggie brought an awesome hat for her studio portraits (created to look a bit similar to Abbie’s pictures but still very unique to Maggie). I loved the blue hat a friend had brought back from a recent trip to Europe as a gift for Maggie and the gold headband with her lovely blue skirt. Simply stunning. A black dress in the hammock at her home. A baseball cap and belt buckle at the grain bins on the farm.
And the horses. Oh the lovely horses. With that marvelous green dress. Sigh. Bliss. Pure photography heaven. Not only did we get to play with Maggie’s beautiful friends, her Mom gave us permission to play! After we got the dress dirty on the horses we had her blessing to get it a little bit wet! A neighbor of the family has a lovely waterfall and lake and they were kind enough to share this beautiful place with us (as well as a cute strawberry faced little girl who gave us the royal tour!).
One of my goals as a photographer is to give my clients a new way to look at themselves. To allow them to see what I see – their amazing personality, their beautiful hearts, & the shimmering of possibilities as they stand at this new pathway and look towards their future. I hope I give them a glimpse of how amazing they are.
But I often wonder if my clients know how much they give me. I wonder if they know how each session feeds my creative soul. If they know how their trust as a returning client encourages me to continue living my dream each day. If they know how thrilled I am when they see their images to know that they really LOVE what they see in themselves. And if they know that the hugs as we leave and promise to see each other soon fill my heart with clients who are not just people who I’ve been fortunate to do business with but that they become part of my heart, part of my family.
Thank you Maggie! I loved laughing with you and creating your amazing images! You are extraordinary!
