It’s January – The first fabulous month of a beautiful new year. Full of new plans, new exciting possibilities and a time to look forward to all that a new year has to offer. Here in South Dakota it’s also a time of year where the weather can send us into hibernation!
Personally I absolutely love summer. I love the sun on my face and the long beautiful days. Summer is always so busy and fun; filled with awesome senior sessions eagerly anticipating the start of the most important year of school (since Kindergarten, of course!). I love looking back on the gorgeous images created in the fabulous summer sunshine.
And yet, when I look at the images that I’ve gotten to create with seniors in the winter months, I can’t help but feel like we’ve created something just so extremely unique and exceptional. Your senior portraits should be a reflection of who you are. And they shouldn’t look like anyone else. Having a portrait taken in the winter months truly gives you a look that so few seniors are able to enjoy.
If you still haven’t done your senior portraits yet, don’t worry! You are NOT the only one! Many of our seniors have procrastinated a bit. Sometimes the summer and fall is so busy with activities that doing your portraits in the winter is much better for your schedule. Others may have had a family friend take a few snapshots in the summer and are now looking for a professional portrait photographer to complete their senior portrait experience before graduation. Whatever your reason we’d love to have you into the studio to experience how fantastic a winter senior session can be.
Whenever the weather allows I love to get out and play in the snow. You would be amazed at what we can create in a very short amount of time. And I have several tricks to keep you warmer than you might think. Hats, scarves and jackets make wonderful wardrobe accessories during these sessions. But I also love when a senior girl takes a chance for something completely stunning by tromping through the snow in a beautiful gown. Or for senior guys we can highlight just how tough you can be in your favorite sport.
We’d love to create something phenomenal with you before you graduate. And don’t worry – if you don’t like playing in the snow we’ve got a toasty warm studio downtown.
