My children attend a wonderful elementary school here in Sioux Falls, SD. I was so honored when I was asked by Sioux Falls Lutheran School to photograph the 8th grade Graduation Ceremony.
The ceremony was held at Memorial Lutheran Church a couple of weeks ago in May. I had a great time meeting all of the kids from this class and doing portraits for each of them with their families before the ceremony. Most of these kids had been together in the same class since kindergarten and you could tell how close they were.
I was absolutely blown away by the graduation ceremony. Two of the students gave such heartfelt speeches. The music by the choir and band were just wonderful. The 8th graders had also done their own arrangement of the song ‘Home’ by Phillip Phillips with the entire class singing or playing an instrument.
There was a lot of fun celebrating in the receiving line following the ceremony by the graduates, their family and friends and their school staff. The parents had surprised the class by having a Limo waiting at the end of the night for the entire class.
It was a wonderful evening full of prayer and praise; reminiscing and celebrating. So much hard work, love and sacrifice went into the not just the day, but also their entire education. By the end of the service I was not the only one with tear filled eyes.
I was so honored to be a part of such a special night. It’s hard to believe that in a few more years my own sweet little people will be having their own 8th grade graduation and heading off to high school. We feel so blessed to be a part of the Sioux Falls Lutheran School family.
Congratulations 8th Grade Graduates! You are absolutely World Ready & Faith Secure!
Check out a little more of this wonderful class!
