Today on Throwback Thursday I’m sharing a few of my favorite portraits from Taylor’s senior portrait session.
Taylor’s senior portraits were taken in July on one of the hottest and most humid days Sioux Falls had during the entire summer. One of those days where you shower but then step outside and need to take another shower. It was crazy hot that day. But we still had a great time and got to include several things Taylor really enjoys.
We started Taylor’s session with his dog, Belle. I love when I get to work with animals. People often ask if they can include their pets in a session and I just love that. Growing up on a farm and riding horses for most of my life I always joke that dogs are easy compared to working with horses!
Poor Belle’s biggest problem was with Taylor’s attire. He had on his hunting gear complete with guns out and ready to go and Belle could not wait. She was so excited and she really didn’t care about the heat. But 5 minutes into our session the poor thing’s tongue was pretty much touching the ground. It’s hard to be a black dog in July in South Dakota! I’m sure she was just as confused that the only shooting she got to experience was me behind the camera.
Taylor has been swimming for years and I love capturing something that has been part of someone’s life for so long. We had a great time doing some portraits at YWCA. A huge thank you for sharing your pool with us to create these amazing memories for Taylor.
We also created some awesomeness in the studio. For every senior session I incorporate several different lighting styles to provide a variety of images for my clients. I just love the ring light and so did his mom. She’s enjoying a big beautiful canvas in her home with that image. Taylor also brought in his Grandfather’s suit and those images are some of my favorites. I love when a guy comes puts in that extra effort. And how timeless, classic and incredibly meaningful those images are to his family? Priceless.
Last year 90% of my seniors ordered one of the beautiful custom albums we create at Julie Prairie Photography. These amazing 10×10 heirloom albums are absolutely stunning and every single client who ordered one this year absolutely raved about this incredible product.
In each of our sessions we end up with 40-50 amazing images and this album is the perfect way to showcase your senior session. These beautiful albums have stunning metallic pages and are all completely custom. I have a blast designing them and they are without a doubt one of the most stunning products we offer in the studio. The last two images below are a couple of my favorite pages from Taylor’s album.
Taylor – it was a pleasure getting to know you this year. Thank you so much for allowing me to capture your Senior Year.
Congratulations on your graduation and best of luck at USD!
