I am so thrilled to be working with the Sioux Falls Diamonds, the premier Girls Fastpitch Softball Club, as their official team photographer. Growing up with a younger brother I spent a lot of time playing baseball but I never did get a chance to play softball. I’ve had so much fun learning and getting to know the fabulous girls on these teams and I’m so impressed with their commitment and dedication to their game and to their teammates. They are so inspiring and I love their enthusiasm and passion.
Recently they held an awesome event at their fantastic new location on north Kiwanis in Sioux Falls. The Diamonds hosted an amazing day with Olympic Gold Medalist, softball super star, Jennie Finch. She has a resume that is absolutely stunning. Gold and silver medals Olympic Medals, NCAA records and championships, celebrated author. She is without a doubt, the best softball player in the world. Pretty incredible, right?
The day was a flurry of fun and activity. Jennie shared fielding and hitting tips encouraging each girl in those areas. She took extra time with each girl and often I’d see her helping out someone who was struggling to nail a basic drill. Her pitching demonstration was phenomenal. She clocks a 72 mph pitch. During the question and answer time one of the girls asked what was Jennie’s favorite pitch to throw. Her answer? “Strike Three”.
Through my lens I was able to capture a glimpse of the real Jennie Finch. The compassionate teacher to these young girls giddy with the excitement of being in the same room with her. The inspiring motivator who encouraged girls through her message of strength and faith. The loving wife and mom who loved sharing about her family. Those are her real accomplishments in life and I loved getting a chance to see Jennie’s passion and gifts during her time with the Diamond girls.
Dream and Believe, Diamond Girls!
